Throughput is a diagnostic tool that quantitatively tests
the data speed of a connection with a remote host (ie., to
your web site). It is performed by transmitting a specific
number of IP packets to that host and then calculates the
average bits per second sent over the communications link.
In turn, for the data packets sent, the results produced
(and emailed to you) will show: quantity of packets sent
to and received from your site; elapsed times, in milli-
seconds; the bits per second required (the Throughput).
The reported times will vary depending on a number of
factors, to include the systems being used, distances,
connections and the size of the data packets, etc.
